This is a collection of all resources on a Red workflow that I’ve created within the last couple of months.

With Media Composer 5, you can access Quicktime and R3D files natively using AMA (provided you have the horsepower).
In this episode, I’ll show you how to link to AMA volumes, change the R3D source settings (such as ISO, color temperature etc.) within Media Composer, adjust the formatting and then transcode to DNxHD.
Editorial note: I apologize for the bad audio quality in this and last week’s podcast. Snow Leopard seems to reset my audio input gain now and again, but this way you finally know what quantization noise sounds like! Seriously, it’ll get better next week.

In this episode, we’ll transcode Red’s R3Ds to Avid-native DNxHD MXF files using Redcine-X, a free transcoding, grading and editing utility by Red that is available for Mac and Windows.
It’s free, it’s easy and it’s fast. So you better check this out.

</video>
In this episode, we’ll convert R3D footage to DNxHD MXF files for offline editing. For this, we’ll use Avid’s Metafuze. Then, we’ll quickly import the files into the Avid, so you can edit away!

In this episode, we’ll take a sequence that was offline edited in Avid Media Composer and onform it to 4K DPX files for grading. For this, we’ll use Monkey Extract.
Sorry for being late with this one, but I was not at home and couldn’t remote into my computer to upload the podcast. My bad.

Look out for a special appearance by my son Jonah.

In this episode, we’ll conform a sequence that was offline edited in Avid to Apple’s Color, where you’ll be able to grade from the original R3Ds. You will not believe it, but it’s actually a pretty quick and painless process!
